nanoPhotonics

Nanophotonics is a recent discipline advancing today's photonic devices beyond the capabilities and functionalities possible with micro-technologies. Novel photonic devices give control over the emission & detection of light by means of sub-wavelength sized nanostructures. These nanophotonics devices are characterized by compact size, high speed and superior energy efficiency.

QuNano's is at present exploring and developing novel nano fabrication techniques suited for commercialization and high volume manufacturing. Novel 3-D nanostructure architectures employing nanowires with atomic layer precision combined with a wide variety of material compositions all enhance device properties for the emission and detection of light ranging from ultra-violet to far-infrared. This opens a host of new opportunities in communications, medicine, sensors, solar power, imaging and displays. Furthermore, nanophotonics allows the control of light down to the single photon level opening new possibilities within quantum computing and cryptography.
